Here’s the scoop about 2nd grade in Room 21….

- Read 15-20 minutes every night!

- Parents need to initial the assignment notebook every night stating that your child has read and completed any other homework for the evening.

- Spelling is due on Friday mornings. There are 15 regular words and a challenge list for each week. All children will be tested on the regular list. If your child needs an extra challenge, he/she should study the challenge word list. The homework should be completed inside the notebook. Have your child bring it back to school by FRIDAY.

- Library books are due on Tuesday, so on Monday evening your child needs to put library books into their backpacks!

- Homelinks are assigned each day after a math lesson is completed in class. Please complete the Homelink the night the Homelink is assigned and DO NOT go ahead. The purpose of the Homelink is to reinforce the current day’s lesson.

- Monthly Book Reports are assigned in the beginning of the month and usually due during the last week of the month. The book reports are a great way for your child to be exposed to a variety of books, plan ahead to complete the book and the report, and to learn how to orally present to their classmates and peers.

-Book orders will be offered each month. Your child will bring home a book order form from Scholastic Books. If you wish to order books, you may order online by going to Scholastic.com or by sending the order form to school with your child with a check made out to Scholastic. You will see the “due date” on the order form and at the Scholastic website.
