MAP Testing and Study Island
First graders continued to practice logging in as well as honing their mouse and keyboard skills. Kid Pix is a very popular program right now but we’ll be moving into our online Treasures reading program when we come back from MAP testing in a couple of weeks.
Second graders are preparing for MAP testing this week. MAPs are our localized assessment and will begin on Tuesday, Sept 8 and will run for about a week and a half. Every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade class will be taking a Math and a Reading MAP test in one of the two computer labs. Each 2nd grade class watched a short presentation about the tests and was given the opportunity to ask any questions they had about the testing process.

Third and fourth grades began using Study Island this week. Study Island is a web site our teachers use to evaluate where their classes are academically throughout the year. Students will use it periodically throughout the year and will occasionally have it assigned for homework. Each student has an individual log in and a record of their activity is logged for their classroom teacher to view at any time.
