Points to Ponder…

As you create your instructions for the Jackson board game, think about the following:

1. Who goes first?

2. How do players move around the board?

3. Are there different levels of questions?

4. How does someone win? (# of points, # of cards, $, first one around the board?)

5. Who reads the questions?

6. What if a person gets a question wrong?

Absences

As we enter third quarter and continue into the winter months when people catch colds and other viruses, do not forget that it is your responsibility to check your teachers’ homework pages when you are absent and also check in with your teachers BEFORE CLASS to see what you have missed upon your return. Don’t forget: all homework assignments can be downloaded from home!!

“But mom!!!!!!!”

This is a common phrase moms and dads of 7th graders around Buffalo Grove hear when parents ask their children about studying. One thing to note about the Constitution unit (which we began today) is that although there will be nights when you as students do not have any written homework, (like this weekend) or may finish an assignment in school, you ALWAYS have something to work on every night! Every day we are learning new information about the Constitution. Please do not wait until the last-minute to study the different concepts we go over in class. You should be studying for at least 15 minutes every night for the Constitution test! This way you do not feel overwhelmed right before the test and you no longer have to say, “but mom!!!”  =) Just some words of wisdom from your Social Studies teacher…

13 Colonies Re-take

13 Colonies quizzes were handed back to students today. I am giving students the opportunity to re-take the quiz if they do the following:

1. Get your quiz signed by a parent

2. Come in before school on Friday, September 8th, or Monday, September 9th to review with Ms. Choi.

3. Tell Ms. Choi when and where you want to re-take the quiz on Tuesday, September 13th if you follow the first two steps. (During study hall, before school with Ms. Choi, or after school in the library.)

Supplies

Hello!

As the new school year approaches, it is important to note that organization and preparation leads to success in class. In order for this to happen, you will need to bring the following supplies to Social Studies on a daily basis:

1. Assignment notebook

2. Covered textbook

3. 8.5 x 11″ oversized notebook with a plastic cover to use as your ISN (I recommend the Mead 5-Star brand)

4. Glue sticks (you will need several during the school year) or mini stapler with staples.

5. Pens and pencils (correction tape or white-out pens are recommended as well)

6. Hi-liters

7. Colored pencils

8. A pair of scissors

9. A pencil case to store the aforementioned supplies (except the ISN)
