In class today, we read chapters 8 and 9 of Soldier Boys. Students need to do the corresponding worksheets in the packet. This will be due, and checked in tomorrow.

There will be a quiz on chapters 6-10 of Soldier Boys on Friday.

In class we took a quiz on chapters 1-5 of Soldier Boys. Students need to read chapter 6 of Soldier Boys before class time tomorrow.

Students who missed today need to read chapter six and schedule a time to make up the quiz.

In class today, students briefly reviewed for a quiz that they will be taking tomorrow. This quiz covers chapters 1-5 of Soldier Boys. Students should be familiar with the vocabulary in the packet that they have been working on throughout the study guide packet as well as the events that happened in the book. Students should also read chapter 5, and complete the corresponding packet pages. Chapters 3-5 will be checked in tomorrow for completion points.

Chapters 1 & 2 of the study guide were checked in today for completion points. Students were also asked to answer discussion questions posted on the board and were then asked to participate in a class discussion. They were then given the remaining time to read chapters 3 and 4, which need to be read by Wednesday, as well as answer the corresponding questions in the study guide.

If you missed today, you need to have me check-in chapters 1 & 2 of your study guide, and you need to begin reading chapters 3 & 4, as well as begin the study guide for those chapters.

We started reading Soldier Boys in class today. We read chapter 1 aloud. Students were given a novel and a study-guide (packet). Students need to bring both the novel and the study guide to class with them everyday.

Due Monday: Read chapters 1 & 2, and complete the study guide for chapters 1 & 2.

The field trip to the Metropolis is tomorrow! Students need to dress appropriately and follow the following dress code: No tennis/gym shoes, no shorts, and no jeans or sweat pants. If there is an issue with the dress code, please feel free to contact me: jfisk@d102.org.

Students were given ten minutes to check/finish their essays for the second part of the Anne Frank test. We then moved on to an introductory activity for the novel Soldier Boys, by Dean Hughes. This activity involved watching two video clips and discussing the ideas presented in the clips. In the group, students were asked: Is it ever acceptable to take a life in order to save a life? Why or why not?

There was no homework assigned.

We took part two of the Anne Frank test today. There is no homework due for tomorrow.

Students who missed today, or yesterday, need to find a time to take the test.

In class today, students were given a study guide for The Diary of Anne Frank. The study guide will be due on Thursday, 4/19. We will be reviewing for the the test that will be given over two days: Monday, 4/23 & Tuesday, 4/24.

Students that missed today need to pick up a copy of the study guide and begin working on it. The study guide is due on Thursday, 4/19.

In class today, we had a Socratic discussion regarding the last two scenes of The Diary of Anne Frank. Students were asked to write down two questions for the discussion, and at the end of the discussion, they were to write a paragraph summary of the discussion.

If a student missed today, they need to write down two questions they had regarding the last two scenes of the play, and they also need to write a summary of the last two scenes. If there are any questions, please email me or stop by.

We took a comprehension quiz today; it was over the reading that was assigned in class yesterday. We then continued to read together as a class.
