Interventionist Homework Tips:
Changing Negative to Positive
All children learn differently based on their individual learning style. Many teachers today look at the theory of ”Multiple Intelligences.” to help us understand each child’s gifts that can often determine a child’s best learning style. By understanding your child’s ”Multiple Intelligence” I can adapt my lessons.
For example, that child that is just too wiggly to focus during a quiet lesson may be strong in the bodily-kinesthic or musical area. By adding range of movement, having your child physically manipulate math tools, listen to background music or relaxing sounds, sing math songs, and adding nmemonics to my lessons the bodily-kinesthic or musical child becomes more engaged and can focus better.
The link below has a survey for parents to learn their child’s strengths. Understanding your child’s strengths and changing your homework routing may make homework an enjoyable happy time in your home.
