Fourth-grade students in Mr. Seegert's class conducted an erosion experiment. The activity tied to their unit of study on landforms, which studied the makeup of soil, physical and chemical weathering, and landforms.
Today, students took on roles such as recorder, timekeeper, and encourager to help support the activity. Mr. Seegert created various scenarios with different levels of sediment and water to simulate the effects of a flood. In the end, students understood that land made of stronger root systems will best hold up to floods.
